The Demon and the Girl

He felt his heart tearing apart
as she was slowly dying
But he could only take a life
to save her from death’s cruel hands
For he was only what he was
A demon; for all that it was worth
Conniving – always preying on human souls

And so he took her mother’s life
and in return he saved hers
He promised eighteen whole years
or maybe a few more

And the girl grew up
And he was always by her side
Unseen, unsensed, but always there
And by a twist of fate
they somehow met again
And now the girl that was all grown up
fell in love although she shouldn’t have

But can they be together?
A sacrifice has to be made
Now it’s his life or hers
